Our Bakery

Something for everyone ...

The Bristol Loaf is an artisan bakery operating across three sites in Redfield, Bedminster, and now Bristol Beacon. We are an independent company who handcraft delicious, certified organic breads as well as savouries, pastries and cakes. We use only the highest quality, organic ingredients sourced as locally and ethically as possible. In addition to our more traditional bakes, we also offer a range of vegetarian, vegan and non-gluten products.

The bakery is open plan so you’ll be able to see the experienced and highly-skilled team hard at work. The café also offers delicious coffee served by trained Oddkin Bristol baristas and natural organic wines … Eat in or enjoy a picnic in the park!

Green & Fair

As an artisan bakery producing one of UK’s most popular staple foods, we understand our responsibility in leaving a positive footprint in our community. We are committed to producing goods of the highest quality. The ingredients we use are sourced with the well-being of our customers and the health of our environment in mind.  80% of the breads we produce are certified as Organic by the Soil Association.

Our sourcing policy is a key part of The Bristol Loaf’s ethos and identity and fits within the ‘slow food’ motto of being “good, clean and fair” – good in quality and taste, clean from pesticides and synthetic fertilisers, fair to the people and communities producing them. The produce we use is organic, ethically and locally sourced wherever possible. Our organic range includes speciality flour for our bread and pastries from Shipton Mill in Tetbury, Arabica beans from Oddkin  Coffee Roasters, Oat milk from Unordinary sourced from 100% British oats, milk from Bruton Dairy in Somerset. All of our meats are high-welfare and are sourced from Origin butchers.

Our breads are never packaged in cellophane or plastic. We deliver our wholesale products to customers in crates and cardboard cartons which we have collected from other producers and restaurants to be used again. All single use disposable items we use are bio-degradable, made with recyclable materials. To keep waste to a minimum we offer discounts to customers who bring their own reusable coffee cups and salad bowls.

As a bakery our biggest carbon footprint lies in our energy consumption. We have only installed new energy efficient baking equipment and only use electricity that is supplied on Green tariffs. We are incredibly proud to have recently installed solar panels helping us with our aspiration to reduce our carbon footprint.
